Nervous System Damage During Herpes Viral Infection

چکیده
Herpes is one of the most common uncontrolled human viral infections. Despite fact that herpes has been known for more than 2000 years, only in last decade a real possibility organizing effective therapy appeared. Some infected individuals may have mild symptoms form fever, adenopathy, or general infectious manifestations. Usually, HSV1 infection not epidemic and occurs sporadically. In 20-40% persons with HSV1, its spontaneous reactivation observed rashes on face.

846Outcome predictors of alpha herpes virus central nervous system infection
Background. Alpha herpes virus infection, herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella zoster virus (VZV), is one of the well-known causes for aseptic meningitis and viral encephalitis. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is the diagnostic method and widely available. Diseases spectrum ranges from self-limited to permanent disability. The prognostic factors, beside...
متن کاملGamma interferon expression during acute and latent nervous system infection by herpes simplex virus type 1.
This study was initiated to evaluate a role for gamma interferon (IFN-gamma) in herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection. At the acute stage of infection in mice, HSV-1 replication in trigeminal ganglia and brain stem tissue was modestly but consistently enhanced in mice from which IFN-gamma was by ablated monoclonal antibody treatment and in mice genetically lacking the IFN-gamma receptor...
متن کاملInflammation inducing central nervous system damage in HTLV-1 infection
Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is involved with two well-described clinical conditions: HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/ tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) and adult T cell leukemia. The neurological disease affects predominantly the spinal cord. Although unusual, the brain as well as other organs may be involved by inflammatory reaction associated with HTLV-1 infection. This ...
متن کاملNovel mechanisms of central nervous system damage in HIV infection
Human immunodeficiency virus-1 infection of the central nervous system is an early event after primary infection, resulting in motor and cognitive defects in a significant number of individuals despite successful antiretroviral therapy. The pathology of the infected brain is characterized by enhanced leukocyte infiltration, microglial activation and nodules, aberrant expression of inflammatory ...
متن کاملRegulatory T cells selectively preserve immune privilege of self-antigens during viral central nervous system infection.
Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are important for the attenuation of immune reactions. During viral CNS infections, however, an indiscriminate maintenance of CNS immune privilege through Treg-mediated negative regulation could prevent autoimmune sequelae but impair the control of viral replication. We analyzed in this study the impact of Tregs on the development of acute viral encephalomyelitis, T c...
